Although merely an old wives’ tale, many patients are often concerned that the hair will grow back heavier and darker after dermaplaning. This is not the case. As long as the hair is superficial vellus hair, it will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment.

Dermaplaning does not affect hair growth!

The only way to affect hair growth is to alter the root of the hair because that’s where the hair is created. Treatments that work on the surface of the skin cannot affect the root, which is located beneath the surface. This is why it’s scientifically impossible for dermaplaning to affect hair growth.

Similarly, shaving hair does not affect hair growth. However, shaving can sometimes create the illusion that it has caused hair to grow back thicker. This is because natural hair has a gently tapered end, which feels soft. When a hair is cut, the cut end is now blunt rather than tapered. It may tend to feel more thick or coarse than it did before. In this way, although shaving will not actually change the hair, it may create the illusion that it has.

Dermaplaning is different. 

With dermaplaning, the hair is cut at an angle, rather than straight across. Because of this, the end of each hair is tapered rather than blunt. When it grows back, it will be soft right away, because of the tapered end. Thus, although shaving may make it seem that hair has grown back coarser or thicker, dermaplaning will not create this illusion.

A single BioRePeel treatment is quick and effective taking approximately 15 minutes and can be combined with other treatments in a salon visit. It’s pain and needle free.

Will I peel?
BioRePeel has minimal down time peel - meaning no excessive peeling will occur after treatment unlike other TCA peels. However some people may experience a slight mild peeling of some areas due to an accumulation of dead skin that has been removed and stimulated, this is totally normal.

What is microneedling?

Microneedling (also known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy) is a type of treatment that uses a microneedling pen which holds a cluster of small needles to cause tiny punctures in the skin (micro-injuries). 

These small contact points encourage the body to create a wound healing response and renew the skin cells. As your skin repairs, your own production of collagen and elastin is triggered to give an almost immediate plumping effect. It can also help tackle other skin damage such as scarring, dark marks, sun damage and ageing.

Benefits of Microneedling
Microneedling is most commonly used to treat the following skin conditions:
